RebuildsCrowns & Partial Rebuilds
Cracked crowns replaced and loose top courses relaid before they fall into the yard.
- Poured crowns
- Top-course rebuilds
- Full rebuilds
Most chimneys in Eastchester went up between the 1920s and the 1960s. After enough freeze and thaw, the top courses loosen, the crown cracks and moss holds water against the brick. Eastchester Chimney & Masonry takes those stacks back to solid brick and rebuilds them with a proper crown, cap and flashing. Slide through the before and after photos below, then call the dispatch line any time of day.

Same chimney, same roof, before the crew arrived and after it left. Drag the yellow handle, or tab to it and use the arrow keys.

Bricks had blown out of the face and the top was coming apart. We took it down to the roofline, relaid it with new brick, poured a crown and set a cap.

Under a big oak, this chimney stayed damp all year and the brick was soft. It was rebuilt, given a stainless cap and new step flashing. The owner had the roof replaced at the same time.
Repairs for capes, colonials, split-levels and larger homes throughout the town of Eastchester.
RebuildsCracked crowns replaced and loose top courses relaid before they fall into the yard.
FlashingStep and counterflashing replaced so rain stops running down the chimney into the ceiling.
LinersFlexible or rigid liners for gas, oil, wood stoves and fireplace inserts.
CapsStainless caps sized to the flue or covering the whole crown, with mesh that keeps animals out.
CameraA lit camera run down the flue shows cracks, gaps and blockages you can't see from the roof.
SweepsWire-brushed fireboxes and flues, with damaged firebrick and joints repaired.
Mothers nest on the smoke shelf to have their young. We work with licensed wildlife removers, then cap the flue so they can't come back.
Chimney swifts are a protected species, so active nests wait until fall. Caps go on after they migrate.
An uncapped flue lets in gallons of rain a year, rusting the damper and staining the firebox.
Big oaks and maples drop leaves into open flues. A screened cap keeps the flue clear for the first fire of the season.
From Michael Frey Drive the crew reaches the Scarsdale and Edgemont hills, the Sound shore and the Bronx line quickly. Tap a town for an approximate time.
Times start at 1 Michael Frey Dr. The Hutch, I-95 and White Plains Road can add minutes, so dispatch gives the real ETA.
Churches, schools, older commercial buildings and three-story houses have stacks a ladder can't safely reach. We set up scaffolding or a lift so each course can be rebuilt by hand.
Planked levels all the way up give a safe platform to strip and relay brick.
Loose brick taken down and relaid level, with original brick reused where it's sound.
Stepped corbels and two-tone banding rebuilt to the original pattern.
Certificates for property managers and permits for sidewalk scaffolding handled.
Book in September or October to beat the cold-weather rush. Here's what a visit covers.
Crown, cap, mesh and flashing checked from the roof with photos.
Creosote brushed out and the flue scanned for cracks or nests.
Firebrick, mortar joints and damper operation tested.
We leave the room clean and tell you whether the fireplace is safe to use.

You can. Dispatch is staffed 24 hours, so a chimney top shedding bricks, an animal stuck in a flue or water coming through the ceiling gets a callback and a plan right away. If you smell gas, see smoke where it shouldn't be or a CO alarm sounds, leave the house and phone 911 first.
Missing or loose bricks, a leaning top, or mortar you can scrape out with a key usually mean the upper section needs rebuilding. Hairline cracks and a few soft joints can often be repointed.
Most above-the-roof rebuilds take one to three days, depending on height and weather. Tall stacks needing scaffolding take longer.
Keep the damper and fireplace doors closed and don't light a fire. Call us. We'll arrange humane removal and then cap the flue.
We source brick close in color and size, and reuse sound original brick where possible so the rebuild blends in.
